Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.
Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

I'm working on a Kilgore line (my uncle's wife's line). I have an Alexander b Dec 1859 PA and you have a William Alexander that you're the profile manager of. You show him as d1900s i.e. 1900-1910.
Recently Wikitree changed the rules for private profiles to born less than 150 years ago and died less than 100 years ago. So I wonder if you'd be willing to change your William Alexander Kilgore to open so I can see if he matches my Alexander Kilgore?
When you post DNA test information on a WikiTree profile, WikiTree needs to be able to see the profile Family Tree Tab (top of WikiTree Profile) to make DNA connections down the ancestral lines.
I would like to recommend that you change the privacy level on this profile and all of the ancestors to be at a level that allows everyone to see the Family Tree tab. Click the "Privacy" tab and set your level to "Private with public tree" or "Private with public biography and tree".
For further information on the available Privacy levels needed to facilitate this, please see Wikitree privacy controls
Thanks!

Tim, do you happen to speak any other languages? Would you check out our languages template and add it to your biography? For example you might add
{{ Languages | en | fr-2 | ga-1 }}
to the top of your biography if you speak English natively, intermediate French and basic Irish, or you could use de-4 to specify near-native German or ru-1 for basic Russian, and so forth up to ten languages.
It really helps to know who speaks all the different languages used on WikiTree! If you only speak English, you're very welcome to use this text to make that clear:
Gedmatch updated IDs for Family Finder participants. The modified ID numbers on Gedmatch now begin with a "T". Could you update your DNA test info on Wikitree to reflect your new Gedmatch ID? I'd like to check for a match to tour DNA. Thanks... Bill
Have you check recently to see if when working with a merge you, "clicked the wrong button"? I can't find any unmatched merges or pending merges that are hung up.
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
