Biography
Nicolaus was born about 1700 (placeholder). He is the son of Peter Philips.
Identified by Jones (1985) without direct evidence, citing his appearance next to Peter in naturalization record. Jones finds him on Livingston debt lists and cites his Dutchess Co. will (Fernow #1315). He cites Linlithgo marriage record Nov. 15 1726 to Christina daughter of Peter Funck. He goes on to identify 7 children (p. 730).
Linlithgo marriage record Nov. 15 1726 for Johan Niclaes Philip living in Queensberg and Christina Peter Funken living in Livingston Manor. First marriage for both.
Dutchess Co. will of Nickel Philipp dated Feb. 27 1760 proved Feb. 5 1784 mentions wife Christina, sons Zaghrias, Nickolas, Johann and daughters Cathrein wife of Johann Kool and Geertie. Witnesses were Willem Betzer, Aernout Veele and Joseph Niev (?) (sic) (Fernow #1315).
