Biography

George Phelps is a part of US Black heritage.

George was born in 1897. He is the son of George Phelps and Mary Hall.

George Harold Phelps registered for the draft in June 1918 in Virginia City. George was farming near Loomont, He was born on April 7, 1897, in Butte. His mother, Mrs Mary A Phelps, served as next-of-kin.[1] He would serve as a Private in the 166 Dep Brig.[2]

In 1930 George was shown as divorced and working as a hotel porter in Seattle, Washington.[3]

In 1940 George and his wife, Alice, were living in Seattle.[4] In 1950 George and Alice were living in the Standard Hotel in Seattle with two children.[5]

George died in 1966[6] and was buried in Portland, Oregon.[7]
