George was born in 1844. He was the son of Frederick Perkins and Harriet Olmstead.
He graduated Yale in 1867.
On 16 August 1870 he married Mary Farnham, daughter of Eli and Jershua (Loomis) Farnham of Galesburg, Illinois. They had two children:
George died in Burlington, Vermont and is buried in the Greenmount Cemetery there. [1]
George Henry Perkins, was a noted American educator, naturalist and Professor of Geology and kindred sciences at the University of Vermont. He served as Dean of Arts and Sciences, vice president and was appointed interim president of the University of Vermont during World War I. He was also the state geologist of Vermont from 1898 to 1933. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University, class of 1867; received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Yale in 1869. [2]
