Marlin was born in 1905 in Carthage, Missouri. He was the son of Joseph Perkins and Mynta Miller.
Marlin worked as a zoo director for the Buffalo Zoological Park, Buffalo, New York; Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago; and St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis, Missouri. He became popularly known as the host for the TV program, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.
He married Elise More in 1933 and they had one daughter, Suzanne. He married Carol Morse (previously married to a Cotsworth) in 1960. [1]
He passed away in 1986 and is buried at Park Cemetery in Carthage.
