Biography

Johan Peter Peppel was born in Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany, in about 1700. In about 1730, his son William was born, also in Germany, presumably to his first wife, who died in Germany. On 25 Sep 1749, Johan, his second wife, "Maggie" (who was said to be too young to be William's mother), and William arrived in Philadelphia, PA, on the ship Rainier. He and William signed the ship's register, but Maggie did not, indicating that he and his son were literate. They settled in Lebanon Co., PA, and attended the Trinity Reformed and Christ's Lutheran churches. About Dec 1750, his daughter Maria Catherine was born, and was baptised in Reformed Church, Lebanan, PA, with Helb Budchelmacher as sponsor. On 20 (or 26) Mar 1754 his son John Philip was born, and was baptised 14 Apr 1754, with Philip Kolb as sponsor. In about 1755 the family moved to Maryland. In 1763, Johan Peter bought "The Meadows" (100 acres) from Michael Pfoutz, in Frederick Co., MD, along Great Pine Creek, for 125 pounds in Pennsylvania currency. In 1765, Johan Peter died, in Frederick Co., MD. In a final estate report filed by Maggie in 1767, she lists an estate value of 188 pounds, with debts paid of 90 pounds.

Pepple-39 and Pepple-11 do not represent the same person because: Different death dates, according to narratives.

Pepple-39 and Pepple-11 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles may be the same with the same daughter and name. One was born in Germany and the other in Maryland; the one from Germany came to Maryland, so it may be the same in spite of the difference in dates of birth. Please review & merge as appropriate. Please notate in public comments if rejected.
