Caption Hewitt's Company, Augusta County, Virginia Militia
"His bible birth page only shows "John Peden Son of James Peden was born January 19; Olde Stile 1734". The bible was printed by Mark and Charles Kerr, Edinburgh, Scotland, His Majesty's Printers, 1789.
"Olde Stile" could indicate the date or place. Base upon other circumstantial evidence (which I can explain later) and a DNA match between myself, Henry C. Peden, and with an individual who lives in Sorn (Auchinlongford), Scotland both Henry C. Peden (author of the book "Genealogy of The Pedens of Kentucky 1756-1986" and myself believe his birth place to be Scotland. Sorn is considered by many to be the ancestral home of all Paden / Peden families and many try to tie into "Peden the Prophet" (who had no decendents)."
