Robert lived with his parents and siblings in the Cheshire area[3][4] until he immigrated to Australia.
Robert married Amelia Brand (1896 - 1969) on 2 Jun 1917 in Queensland, Australia.[5]
Their children were:

- Lillian Ann (Pearl) Richards (1919 - 1952)
- Ronald Samuel Pearl (1922 - 1928).
Robert died on 8 Apr 1951 in Mackay, Queensland, Australia aged ~63.[6][7] Robert is buried in Mackay City Cemetery, Mackay. [8]
