Ambrose was born in 1893. He is the son of William Pearce and Georgina Bales. [1]

He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 28 August 1914, aged 20 years and 8 months, occupation carpenter, his next of kin was his father W. H. Pearce, Quorn, South Australia. Ambrose embarked from Adelaide on HMAT Ascanius A11 on 20 October 1914 with the 10th Australian Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action at the landing in Gallipoli, sometime between the 25th and 29th April 1915. He was 21 years old.
