Biography

John was born in 1700.[1] He was the child of John Paul and Elizabeth Wright [2].

John Paul, Sr., the father of John Paul Jones, was a gardener at Arbigland, and John Paul Jones' mother was Jean McDuff (1708–1767). John and Jean married on November 29, 1733 in New Abbey, Kirkcudbright [3] [4]

John passed away 24 Oct 1767 and is buried in the Kirkbean Parish Churchyard in Kirkbean, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The inscription says "In memory of John Paul, Sr. who died at Arbigland, October 24, 1767, universally esteemed." [5]
