Biography

Andrew was born in 1857. He is the son of David Patterson and Martha Johnson. He passed away in 1932. ^[1]

In approximately 1890, Andrew Johnson Patterson married Martha Ellen Barkley.^[2]

^[3] found Andrew J Patterson, a 43 year old married white male, born February 1857 in Tennessee to parents also born in Tennessee, living in his own home in Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee. With him was his wife of 10 years, Martha, born May 1864 in Tennessee to parents also born in Tennessee. Wife Martha B. Patterson was enumerated as not having had any children. Also in the household was Andrew's mother Martha J. Patterson, Martha B.'s sister and half-brother, and two black servants. Mother Martha J. was enumerated as the mother of two children, one now living; sister-in-law Fannie was enumerated as married eight years, mother of one child but none living; and Nora Hall was enumerated as the mother of one child, still living. The other servant Otis Hall, 17 years younger than her, may have been that child. Andrew's occupation was "Miller", Edward's was "Clerk", Nora's was "Cook" and Otis' was "Butler". All members of the household were recorded as able to read and write, with the exception of Otis, for whom no notation was made one way or the other.

No 1910 census enumeration has been identified for this family.

The United States Census, 1920^[4] found Andrew Patterson, a 62 year old married white male, born in Tennessee to parents also born in Tennessee, living in his own home at 214 Main Street, Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee. With him were his wife Martha and his 16 year old daughter Margaret. Andrew's occupation was "Real Estate Dealer".
