The second child FRANCIS was a volunteer in the First Mich. Battery, a unit of the Union Army fighting in the Civil War. He was mortally wounded and honorably discharged Feb 13, 1863 in the Civil War battle of Chattanooga, Tenn. remaining there, he died three months later, June 15, 1863 They say he is buried in the Chattanooga Tenn. Veterans cemetery.
