Morgan was born in Llanelly, Breconshire, South Wales, Oct. 13, 1849, at which place he grew up and became a member of the First Congregational church. </line><line/><line>He was a tenor singer in the choir for some time. He removed to Iowa in 1879, where he was married to Mary Penman. One daughter, now Mrs. W.K. Young of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, was born of this union. His second marriage to Mrs. Maggie Lloyd occurred in 1890. Three sons, Gower, William and Morgan, were born to them. These with the wife and four step-children, Mrs. D.J. Abrams, of Colfax, Ia., Thomas Lloyd of Omaha, Nebr., Willie Smith of White City, Iowa, and Johnnie Smith of Illinois, now survive him. It can truly be said that he was a devoted father and kind and loving husband. </line><line/><line>A large congregation of friends and neighbors attended the funeral services, conducted by a former pastor of the Beacon Baptist church, Rev. A.H. Nickell, at 2:30 p.m. September 30, 1907. Interment took place in the Beacon cemetery immediately upon the close of the service in the church.
