Be it remembered that at a Court of Common [unreadable] begun and held at the Court house in the town of Wooster within and for the county of Wayne and the State of Ohio on Monday the twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and forty seven by and before Samuel M[unreadable] Smith Orr and Nial McCoy Esquire associate judges of said Court the following proceeding were had to wit
The Last Will and Testament
of John Parker deceased
The last will and testament of John Parker decd was this day produced in open court and thereupon came Thomas McElhenice and David Slanker the subscribing witnesses to said will being duly sworn in and open court, did declare that they were personnaly present and saw the testator's subscribe said will that at the time he was of sound mind and memory of the full age and not under any restraint that they subscribe said will as witnessed in his presence and at his request.
Whereupon it is ordered by the Court that the said will and the testimony taken as aforesaid be recorded and that Setters testamentary ??? to Jacob Haffman the executor named in said will, and that he enter into bond with David Slanker and Thomas McElhenice as securities in the penal(?) sum of four thousand dollars conditional second to law.
The Last Will and Testament
of John Parker deceased
In the name of the benevolent father of all, I John Parker of Chippewa Township Wayne County and State of Ohio do make and publish this my last will & testament Item first: I command my body to the earth and my soul to God who gave it. Item Second: I devise and bequeath to my son Joseph the farm on which I now reside situate in Chippewa Township Wayne County Ohio it being part in section 18 township 18 range eleven the west half of the south east quarter, also 25 acres of the north east quarter, section 19 range 11 township 18 on the northwest corner of said quarter section for the use and benefit of said Joseph so long as he shall live and all the chattel property & house hold and kitchen furniture that may remain after the funeral expenses and all my debts are firstly paid so soon after my death as conveniently can be done then my son Joseph shall receive the rents profits and incomes of all the above mentioned property for his support and benefit so long as said Joseph shall live.
Item Third it is my will also that after the death of my son Joseph the property I have left for his support is to be devided between my son Ezekiel and my grand son John son of William Parker to share and share alike in the valuation of all property left at the death of my son Joseph.
Item Fourth it is also my will that Jacob Haffman be guardian to take charge of all the property after my death left for the support of my son Joseph and put it to the best use he can for the support of said said Joseph as his insanity requires a guardian as he is not considered by me capable to act for himself it is further my will if there should be any overplus from avails of said property more than is necessary for the support of said Joseph said overplus is to be put to interest and be divided between Ezekiel & John the above mentioned heirs at the death of said Joseph. Item fifth I do hereby nominate and appoint Jacob Haffman executor this my last will and testament hereby authorizing and empowering him to compromise adjust release and discharge in such manner as he shall deem proper the debts and claims due me. I do also authorize and empower him if shall be necessary in order to pay my debts to sell by private sale or in such manner upon such terms of credit or otherwise as he may think proper all or any part of my real estate and deeds to the purchasers to execute acknowledge and deliver in fee simple.
I do by here revoke all former will by me made.
I testimony were of I have here unto set my hand and seal the twenty ninth day of October in the year One thousand eight hundred and forty five.
