Bio: Boyd Sever Pannkuk, well known throughout this territory, after a fourteen week illness, died on Friday noon, March 3, at an age of 81-1/2 years. With his passing another of the first settlers of north-Kossuth becomes history. Mr. Pannkuk was born at Locquard, Germany, on the 26th day of October, 1857. During the height of the Civil War, he came to America with his parents in 1864. They first settled at Forreston, Illinois. In 1871 they moved to Grundy County near Parkersburg, Iowa. Here, in 1878, Mr. Pannkuk and Miss Hilda Wiltfang were united in marriage and four years later they moved to Kossuth County. In 1899 Mrs. Pannkuk died. In 1902 while traveling in Germany he met Miss Renktje Smidt, whom he married and brought to America.

The following immediate family remain to mourn his passing: his wife, his children, Mrs. Gertie Everts of Titonka, Henry of Aplington, minister of the Reformed church, Mrs. Anna Rike of Titonka, Anton of Algona, Mrs. Maggie Brandt of Titonka, Mrs. Hilka Giesking of Titonka, Mrs. Ella Brandt of Titonka, Fred of Lakota, Everett of Laurens, Minert of Titonka, John of Hopkinton, minister of the Lutheran church, Mrs. Agnes Stecker of Titonka, Ben of Titonka, Fannie of Titonka, Alice of Titonka.

Boyd and Mrs. Alice (Ubbe) Winter preceded their father in death by several years. Two children died in infancy. Besides these he leaves three living brothers and three living sisters, 50 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

That Mr. Pannkuk served in many positions both in the church and community needs not be stressed. Even at his death he was yet the President of the Titonka Savings Bank. His life was long, he had friends, he had enemies, his life was full, and thus we bid fare-well to him. Another window to the fascinating past, the pioneer past has forever been closed.

The funeral took place on Tuesday, March 7th. Rev. M. Schulz, pastor of the local Lutheran church, had charge of the service in the house. From the house, the body was taken to the Ramsey Reformed Church, of which Mr. Pannkuk was a charter member. Rev. Calvin Schnucker, pastor of the deceased, preached in both the German and English language. Interment followed on the Pannkuk lot on the Ramsey church cemetery.
