My first date with the woman who is now my wife was to Somerset House to start my family tree. That was in 1993 and we've been at it ever since. We prefer to check each record we add rather than bulk copy from others, as it makes it more personal that way and also double-checks for errors (of which there are surprisingly many). Have DNA profiles for 4 very close family members which helps with triangulation of DNA matches. Happy hunting!

Thanks for the follow-up mail. I wondered where "Mails" got sent, now I figure they are only here (if public) or sent to your e-mail address (if private). I did browse the new member how-to, but probably need to revisit it a few times as my use of the site expands. It appears very much US-centric at present, but that can only chnage and get wider :)
You are now a Family Member -- your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together! Start with the New Member How-To pages — they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around.
