Biography
Grandson of Rev Roswell Cook of Montville, CT. He married first, Anna Sayles Palmer, with whom he had 2 children.
In 1850, Roswell Cook (33) and Anna Palmer (35) were living in Alabama, Genesee County, New York, with their two children, Harriet (2) and William (3 mo.) and two other persons, Patrick St John (25), a laborer from Ireland, and Mercy Norris (14). Roswell was a Baptist Minister.
In 1860, Roswell (42) and Anna (44) were living with Harriet (12) and William (10) in Murray, Orleans Co, NY.
The New York Census of 1865 counted the family in Brockport, Monroe, NY.
In 1870, the family had moved, yet again, to Panola, Woodford Co, Illinois. Harriet was 22 and worked as a school teacher, and William (19) worked as a day laborer. Anna (56) kept house for the family and Roswell (54) continued in the Ministry. His real estate was worth $2000 and personal estate worth $800.
She died in 1879 and he remarried, to Eleanor Fox Dolbeare Palmer (1812–1903). It was her second marriage as well.
Rev. Roswell Cook Palmer was 65 when he died.
