Biography

Thomas was born in New York in 1838. During the Civil War, Thomas served as a corporal, advancing to sergeant, in the 3rd Regiment of the New York Cavalry. After the war, he headed west to Michigan, where he met and married Harriet Hosner in 1872. He passed away in 1915.

Thomas R. Page Was One of First Texas Township Settlers

Thomas R. Page, 77 years of age, died at his home in Oshteno village at 4:15 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The leaves his wife and two sons, Charles A. Page of Kalamazoo and Verne B. Page of Oshtemo.

Mr. Page was born in Rochester, N.Y. in 1838. At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in the Third New York cavalry. January 24, 1872, he married Miss Harriet Hosner. Five children were born to them, of whom three have died. Mr. Page came to Michigan in 1868, settling first in Texas township. About 25 years ago he moved to Oshtemo, where he afterwards resided, and where surrounded himself with a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.

Funeral will be held from the home in Oshtemo at 10:30 o'clock Sunday morning. The burial, witch will be in charge of the Masonic lodge of Mattawan, of which he had long been a member, will take place in Vergo cemetery, Texas township.
