Niccolò Paganini was an Italian violinist and composer. He is considered to be the finest violin virtuoso of his time.
Niccolò Paganini was born on October 27, 1782, in Genoa, Italy, the third of six children born to Teresa and Antonio Paganini. Paganini had a few close friends, including composers Gioachino Rossini and Hector Berlioz, who composed Harold en Italie for him, and a mistress with whom he had a son named Achilles. He later legitimized his son and left him his fortune. In 1827, Paganini was made a Knight of the Golden Spur by Pope Leo XII. Plagued with illness later in life, Paganini lost his voice in 1838. He died on May 7, 1840, at Nice, France from cancer of the larynx, having all but ended his concert career in 1834. [1] He was buried at Cimitero della Villetta, Parma, Italy.
