GRANDPARENTAL LINEAGE

Historical Genealogy of the Basham, Ellison, Hatcher, Lilly, Meadows, Pack, Walker, and Other Families" pg. 77 ----Compiled by Charles Silas Hatcher ............. John Pack, the oldest son, was born June, 1807, at the mouth of Big Bluestone River. John located on little Bluestone River at Streeter, now Summers County, West Virginia. The deeds of John Pack and his wife, Elizabeth, show they were large land owners in that section. John lived near Streeter for about thirty years,then moved to Raleigh County, where he became a successful farmer and cattle dealer. John was married twice; first to Elizabeth Harvey, and second, to Betsey Rollyson. The children by his first wife were:

1- Preston Pack married Amanda Cooper. They were the parents of three children: Belle, Clara M., and Alexander....
2- John Pack, Jr., married Eliza Basham, and they had several children. John was killed in the Civil War......
3- James M. Pack was married first to Jane Goodall, and second to Catherine Cooper. He was the father of five children: John A., Chris, William, Lee, and Grover......
4- William Pack's sons were: John, James M., and Lewis A.....
5- Rachel Pack married Isaac Mann of Jumping Branch.......
6- Nancy Pack was the first wife of Vandalia Harvey, and they had one daughter, Margaret, who married Preacher Jim (Bench) Lilly......
7- Jane Pack married Alex Basham, Sr., and they first settled on a farm near Streeter. Alex was later killed in the Civil War. They had one son, J. Wesley Basham, who married Lucy A. (Pack) Wills......
8- Samuel Pack, see biographical sketch. The children of the second marriage were the following:
9- Albert Pack married Lithena Lilly and they settled on Big Bluestone River......
10- Tom Pack married Ruthie Ferguson and they lived near The Chimney Rocks.......
11- Haley Pack never married........
