Biography

Clara Orme was born in Cheshire, England.

Clara Orme was born in Congleton, Cheshire on 18 May 1878, the daughter of Aaron Orme and Sarah (Duncalf) Orme.^[1][2] She was baptised at St Luke's Church, Derby, Derbyshire on 20 April 1879.^[3][4] Derby was the home town of Sarah's parents and the town were Aaron and Sarah had married.

At the time of the 1881 census, Clara, aged 2, was living with her parents and two older brothers at Victoria Street, Congleton.^[4]

Clara's mother died of TB on 17 October 1881, when Clara was just 3 years old. On 15th February 1885 her father remarried. In 1888 Clara gained a new half-brother, Frank Orme.^[5]

By 31 March 1901, Clara was working as a Domestic Servant, but still living with her family in Congleton. Two new half siblings had accived, Lucy and Arnold.^[6]

Clara's father passed away in 1907.

At the time of the 1911 census, Clara was still at home in Congleton with her stepmother, Sarah Ann (Critchley) Orme, her brother James and half-brothers Frank and Arnold. She was employed assisting in her stepmother's Florest and Fruiterer business.^[7]

Clara did not marry.^[8]

She passed away in the district of Congleton in 1921, at the age of 43.^[8]
