I am pleased to welcome you as a member of the WikiTree family. Thank you for upgrading. You are all set to add and edit profiles now.
Please click here to start with our New Member How-To pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.
The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.
I hope you love WikiTree as much as I do. You never know when you will find a lost ancestor or family member. Maybe you will find a family secret about an ancestor like I did.
If you have questions about how WikiTree works, let me know. To contact me, log in to WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment to be sure that I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment on my profile page.
Me again. Noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. That is great. WikiTree GEDCOM process is a bit different from those used at other genealogy sites. Here are same help pages to make your GEDCOM experience more smoothly:
If you have any brick walls, collaboration might help bust through. Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall
If you have any questions about your GEDCOM or our process, you can contact our GEDCOM Manager for assistance.
A warm welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!
Here are some other suggestions for you to explore:
1. Our Help pages have all sorts of useful information and feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum.
2. Our Honor Code is a very important part of why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree so please take some time to read it.
3. Explore the Family Tree & Tools tab at the top of your profile.
What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research youd like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, youll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.
