Research Notes:
  1. Brooksville was formed from parts of Castine, Penobscot and Sedgwick, having been set off and incorporated June 13 1817. It took from Sedgwick an eighth, and from Castine and Penobscot each a fifth of their taxable property. It was named in honor of Governor Brooks, of Massachusetts.
  2. Newspaper death announcement: JANUARY 22, 1880: Brooksville, Camp Rosier, Dec. 31, Mrs. DESIRE B., wife of Mr. Samuel REDMAN, age 78 years.
