Biography

Alet Karine Olsdatter was born 29 1809 to parents Ole Christofferon Dahler and Maria Halvorsdatter in Øvre Eiker, Buskerud, Norway. She married Morten Olsen Bæver on 6 July 1833 in Kongsberg, Norway. Morten died in 1853. They had eleven children, ten of whom lived to adulthood and all emigrated to the U.S. The first to emigrate (in 1857) was their son Tollef, who in 1870 returned to Norway to bring his mother to America. She lived for a time in Dodge County, Minnesota and then moved to Becker County where most of her children settled. (The death date on her gravestone has an incorrect year of 1895. She was alive and well in the state census of that year. Records of the Audubon First Lutheran Church indicate that she died in 1896.)
