Born 1850 Walkington

Francis Oliver was born in 1850 in Walkington, a village in the Yorkshire Wolds, two miles west of Beverley beyond the Westwood Common Pasture. ^[1]

Francis is the son of Richard Oliver and his wife Esther Hought.

Oliver Family 1851 Walkington

Richard and "Easter" Oliver are at home in Walkington with four children under 11 and an elderly pauper Christiana Ward 79 widow of William Ward, Blacksmith ; visiting are another widow Jane Towle 42 and her daughter Sarah 9, ^[2]

Cottage Farmer 1881 Walkington

In 1881 the Olivers have a Cottage Farm at Rose Cottage, next to Rectory Farm in Walkington. As Richard is 72 his son Francis 31 is probably doing most of the work but expecting to inherit. ^[3]

Research

There seems to also be a baptism 2 OCT 1844. Check this. If accurate it is a predeceased brother. There is only one Francis aged 1 at census 1851.
