  • MR. WILLIAM O'LEARY. The death occurred in hospital at Kempsey on Saturday night last at the grand old age of 81 years of Mr. William O'Leary, a native of Wayon Creek, Gosford district. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. O'Leary, of Kincumber, and came to the Macleay River in the year 1884. He was married on the Hastings to Miss J. O'Connor, and after their marriage the couple settled on the Hastings where for many years deceased followed the timber trade. He moved to Kundabung, where for several years he carried on farming pursuits, and finally, owing to the illness of his wife, retired and came to live in Kempsey. He lost his life's partner some 18 months afterwards. During his younger days the deceased was a keen cricketer, and a man noted for his agility in the "slips," assisting the Hastings team on many occasions to victory in that capacity He is survived by a family of "four sons, Messrs. William O'Leary (Telegraph Point), Michael O'Leary (Kunda-bung), James O'Leary (Condobolin) and Pte. Les. O'Leary (Ingleburn). A fifth son, the eldest, Signaller A. J. O'Leary, was killed while on active service in the war of 1914-18. The daughters are Mesdames W. R. Dodds (Kempsey). N. Davis (Sydney) and S. O'Shea (Sydney) The funeral, under the direction of Mr. Jos. T. Walker, took place on Monday from the All Saints' Catholic Church, West1-Kempsey, where Rev. Father Morris conducted a service, at the conclusion of which the cortege proceeded to the West Kempsey Catholic cemetery, where the remains were interred, Rev. Father Morris officiating at the graveside.
