Biography

Luther was born in Upper Canada (Ontario) on 28 Sep 1836,^[1] the son of Darius Oatman and Jerisus "Betsy" Avery.^[2][3] Their family lived and farmed in Norwich, Oxford (county), Canada West (Ontario).^[4] In 1861, they were living next to his brother, Oliver and his family.^[5]

He married Phoebe Moore on 28 Dec 1865.^[2] Their children were:

• Lida Oatman, born 1868
• Lily May Oatman, born 12 Aug 1869^[6][7]
• Lyman Oatman, born 31 Jan 1871^[8][9][10]
• Llewellyn Oatman, born 1874.^[11][12]

Their family lived and farmed in South Norwich Township, Oxford, Ontario.^{[13][14][15][16]}

He was living separately from his wife by 1901.^[1][17][18]

He passed away in 1916.^[3]
