Catherine "Kate" O'Neill (married name Smith) was born around 1854, the daughter of Ellen O'Neill (nee Murphy) and John O'Neill.^[1]

She was married to Patrick James Smith. Their children were:

• Reginald Percy Smith (1883–?)^[2]
• Ethel Mary Smith (1884–?)^[3]
• Leslie John Smith (1886–?)^[4]
• Percy Leo Smith (1888–?)^[5]

Kate died in 1940 in Preston, Victoria, Australia, aged 86 years.^[1]
