Biography
Mary was born in 1862 at Greenough Flats, Western Australia.[1] She is the daughter of Michael O'Brien and Honora O'Brien.
She married Matthew Driscoll in 1891 at Greenough Back Flats.[2]
- It is with extreme regret that we record the passing of another old dis trict resident in the person of Mrs. Mary Ann Driscoll, of Dongarra, death having taken place in the Victoria District Hospital at Geraldton on Friday of last week after an illness extending over a period of some weeks. The deceased lady, who was 74 years of age, was born at Greenough and had resided in the Greenough-Don garra district for the whole of her life.
- For about thirty years she followed the nursing profession, and in this respect she will be gratefully remem bered by many of her patients in all parts of the district which she served. She retired from active work only about six years ago, and in addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was highly respected by all with whom she ever came in contact.
- The funeral took place on Sunday last in the Roman Catholic portion of the Utakarra Cemetery, and after a short service in the new mortuary chapel, during which the Rev. Father Gallagher spoke consolingly and feel ing to the bereaved relatives, the re mains were laid to rest in the presence J of a large number of friends and rela tions. The chief mourners were Messrs. Matthew Driscoll (husband), James and Joseph Driscoll (sons), Mes dames Edwards, Downes, Baker, and Misses Louise, May and Tess Driscoll (daughters).[3]
