Biography

James was born on 19 January 1862 to Richard, a Licensed Victualler, and Anne Norris.^[1] He was baptized on 16 February 1862 at St Mary, Bury, Lancashire, England.^[2] When James was 19, he resided with his uncle, Alfred Waterworth, a Chemist and a Chemist, in Preston, Lancashire plying the same trade. Three of James' aunts also lived in the Waterworth household: the sisters, Annie Waterworth, Mary Norris and Eliza Norris.^[3] He continued to live with Alfred until at least early 1891.^[4] Later that June, James wed Lizzie Hindhaugh at Christ Church in Fulwood, Lancashire.^[5]

James and Lizzie had one daughter, Lucy, in Fulwood before moving to Australia. While residing in Freemantle, Western Australia, Australia, they added Florence and Elizabeth to the family. Unfortunately, Florence passed away at 2 months of age in 1897. By 1911, the family was back in England residing in Preston ,Lancashire.^[6] James and Lizzie remained in Preston until at least 1939.^[7]

Lizzie predeceased her husband in 1952, James passing away three years later in 1952.^[8]
