Many genealogies posted online and in books are unsourced and may be incorrect. These are my attempts at finding sources. While DNA testing can be useful, connections are usually based on paper trail family trees. If everyone has the same unsourced family tree, the common shared ancestors may be incorrect.

It seems we're 2-4th cousins. We match on familytreedna.com?
Hi Randy,

I noticed a lot of unlisted profiles being managed by you. You may want to review your watchlist and add some death dates so that you can share those profiles.

Most of them I cannot confirm death dates. When I started on Wikitree I wasn't aware of the 1000 profile limit so I didn't mind including those that appeared on later census records. I tried going through them a few years ago with limited luck and now I have very little time available to spend on it.

Thanks for the reply Randy. I should've read closer - sorry. And I also should've realized even unusual names are not that unusual in colonial Virginia! (I've discovered a surprising number of "Buckner Stith"s- a name I would have thought less common than it turned out.)

Cheers, Liz

Hi!

Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.

I hope you're enjoying our site. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well!

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.

We also have our Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on. Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

And of course I'm here to help, just ask!
