Pearl was born in 1881 in Parker, Douglas County, Colorado.[1] She was the daughter of William Gilpin Newlin Jr and Nancy E (Adams) Newlin.
She was 17 years old when she marriedCharles Franklin Cummings, 21 years old, on Dec 28 1898 in Parker, Douglas County, Colorado.[2] They had five children.
The couple lived on a farm in Parker[3], then moved to Denver, Colorado, where they were living in a house they owned at 1278 Mariou Street on April 26 1910. Charles was working as a general contractor, They had three children of whom two were living: Charles F Jr., age 9, and Hazel M, age 3, both born in Colorado.[4]
On January 27 1920 the family was living on a ranch on Bear Creek Road in Precinct No 17, Clear Creek County, Colorado with four children: Chas. F, age 19, Hazel, age 13, Forrest, age 3, and Shirley, 6 months.[5]
They were still living on the Bear Creek ranch raising livestock, valued at $1,500, on April 15 1930. Two children lived with them: Forrest D, age 13, and Shirley M, age 10.[6]
Charles passed away in 1935 at age 58 and was buried in Parker Cemetery in Parker.[7]
Pearl, age 58 and widowed, was living at 1361 Ames Street in Mountair Precinct no 29, Jefferson County, Colorado, in a house she owned worth $1,600 on April 18 1940. Living with her are her daughter Shirley C Goodenow, age 20, a beauty operator in a beauty parlor earning $1,404 in 1939, Jack L Goodenow, son-in-law, age 24, born in Kansas and living in Downs, Osborne County, Kansas, in 1935, working as a stock clerk in wholesale and retail tires, earning $1,025 in 1939, and grandsons William C Terry, age 4, Forrest D Terry, age 4, both born in California.[8]
On April 13 1950, Pearl was living with her daughter and family at 2332 E 5th in Denver County, Colorado. Her daughter Hazel Arnold was the household head. She was 43 and divorced, living with her three children: Mary Lenore, age 18, born in California, Hazel Marie, age 16, born in Colorado, and James I Jr., age 15, born in Colorado and a newspaper carrier. Frances Marino, a lodger, age 16, also lived there.[9]
Pearl passed away 29 years after her husband in 1964 at around age 82 and was buried in Parker Cemetery in Parker.[10]
