Dempsey married Frances Nevil (also spelled Neville), 21 APR 1831, in Bulloch County, Georgia. The marriage was performed by James Wilkinson, Justice of the Peace (Source: Listing of Bulloch County Marriages on file in the County Courthouse). DEMPSEY RIGGS IS INTERRED IN A PRIVATELY OWNED CEMETERY IN BULLOCH COUNTY CALLED THE "THOMAS NEVIL CEMETERY" BY THE LANDOWNER AT THE TIME OF THIS WRITING. Dempsey's wife, Frances Nevil/Neville, was born 02 MAY 1815, near Lotts Creek, 44th District, Bulloch County, Georgia. She died 16 years, 3 months and 2 days after the death of her husband Dempsey, on September 27, 1890 in Bulloch County, Georgia. Her surviving family buried her in the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia. Dempsey's wife is a younger sibling of Thomas Nevil who is interred in this same cemetery where Dempsey is buried. Dempsey Riggs' wife, Frances Nevil, is the daughter of Jacob Nevil/Neville, Sr. (1769 - 1863) and Nancy 'Nisy' Henderson (1780 - 1889). 1. RACHAEL A. RIGGS, b. 12 MAR 1834 d. 15 FEB 1914, married Andrew J. Wilson on 24 JAN 1867. (Conflict on her date of birth - According to the 1850 US Federal Census of Bulloch County, Georgia, Rachel was 16 years old therefore, she was born in the year 1834 - this will require further validation).

2. JOHN W. RIGGS, b. 22 MAR 1836, d. 29 MAR 1864. Married Catherine Waters (1840-1912) on 09 FEB 1860. Interred Akins-Riggs Cemetery, Pulaski, Candler County, Georgia. His burial was the first in this Cemetery.

3. ELIZABETH C. RIGGS, b. 20 JUN 1838, d. 15 FEB 1911, married David Cowart Proctor on 11 AUG 1859. David, a CSA Veteran, was born 29 MAR 1831, d. 08 DEC 1904. Both are interred Eastside Cemetery, Statesboro, Bulloch County, Georgia.

4. NANCY ANN RIGGS, b. 28 DEC 1836, d. 14 NOV 1926, married Hampton Brannen (son of William and Nancy Brannen) on 08 MAY 1857. Hampton Brannen was b. 18 FEB 1830, d. 04 JUL 1904.

5. STEPHEN J. RIGGS, a CSA soldier, b. 04 NOV 1839, d. 08 SEP 1861 in Camp near Manassas, Virginia during the Civil War.

6. JACOB RIGGS, a CSA Soldier, b. 16 OCT 1841, d. 29 MAR 1864.

7. JAMES M. RIGGS, b. 04 JUN 1843, d. 06 MAR 1925, married Sarah J. Olliff, 09 JAN 1867 (She was born 12 DEC 1848 and died 21 AUG 1930). Both are interred Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

8. JASPER 'JAPER' RIGGS, b. 15 APR 1845, d. unknown, still searching. Interred Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

9. NANCY 'NICY' RIGGS, b. 20 FEB 1847, d. 17 FEB 1933. (A TWIN) She married William Bland on 24 AUG 1865 (b. 10 JUN 1842, d. 06 JUL 1918). Both are interred Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery, Appling County, Georgia.

10. DICY RIGGS, b. 20 FEB 1847, d. 18 JUN 1928. (A TWIN) She married 1st, Peter U. Brannen on 21 DEC 1865. After her 1st husband's death, she married 2nd Edmund Kennedy on 09 APR 1903. Edmund was b. 12 NOV 1824, d. 17 APR 1907. She and her 2nd husband are interred in Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

11. JOSHUA RIGGS b. 01 NOV 1849, in Bulloch County, Georgia, d. 27 OCT 1906, in Bulloch County, Georgia. He married Elizabeth Jones (1852-1940). He and his wife are interred Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

12. JASON RIGGS, b. 10 SEP 1851, d. 27 JUN 1927, age 75. He married EMMALINE WILSON, b. 27 DEC 1856, d. 18 JUL 1938. They had three children; 1 daughter and 2 sons. Both are interred Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

13. JEFFERSON (JEFF) RIGGS was born on 22 May 1852 in Bulloch County, Georgia. He married ANNA LISA (maiden name unknown at time of this writing - still searching).

14. SARAH ELIZABETH RIGGS, b. 30 May 1853, Bulloch County, Georgia, d. 10 Apr 1922, Bulloch County, Georgia. She married Augustus S. Smith, b. 15 SEP 1846, d. 2 MAY 1907. Both are interred Deal Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.
