Biography

Peter was born at Dunolly in 1860, the son of Emilie (nee Brant or Brand) and Sven Nelson.

In 1883, Peter married Maud Battersby. The couple had 10 children:

• Beatrice Emily Minnie Nelson b. 1886
• Ernest Nelson b. 1888
• Jane ("Jean") Nelson b. 1889
• Gilbert Eldred Nelson b. 1891
• Corrie ("Doris") Nelson b. 1893
• Clarice Mearl ("Mearl") Nelson b. 1896
• Maude Myra ("Myra") Nelson b. 1899
• Melinda May ("Linda") Nelson b. 1901
• Laurence Peter Neil ("Laurie") Nelson b. 1907

Their children were mainly born in St Arnaud until the birth of Clarice in Dunolly. The next two children were also registered in Dunollly, and the youngest, Laurence, was registered in Outrim.

Maud died in 1945. The couple were living at 35 Edinburgh St, Burnley at the time of her death.

Peter passed away in 1949 and is interred at Burwood Cemetery with his wife, Maud, and son, Gilbert. He had been residing in Richmond before his death.

NELSON.-On September 21, at his daughter's residence, 32 The Grange, East Malvern, Peter, the dearly loved husband of the late Maud and loved father of Beatrice, Ernest, Jean, Gilbert, Doris, Mearl, Myra, Linda, and Laurie, aged 89 years. Redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.^[1]
