Odile was born about 1831 to parents Jean Baptiste Nantel and Marie (Therrien or Terrien). She was the middle of 11 children, with 2 brothers & 8 sisters.

Odile married Jean Baptiste Morrisseau on the 12th of February 1855.[1] It was the 100th wedding recorded at the Notre Dame in Montreal for that year. A translation of the original French church record is given here:

  • The twelfth of February, 1855, after the publication of three banns of marriage in this parish and publication in two of those of Granby, without impediment or opposition, the dispensation from the last parish has been obtained from Monseigneur Jean Charles Prince, Bishop of St. Hyacinthe, I undersigned priest authorize for this purpose, having taken the mutual consent by spoken word in the presence of Jean Baptiste Morrisseau, farmer, son of Jacques Morrisseau and of Marguerite Petitclair of Granby, diocese of St. Hyacinthe, party of the first part, and of Odile Nantel, daughter of Jean Baptiste Nantel, carpenter and of Marie Therien of this parish, party of the second part, have married them according to the laws and customs observed in the Holy Church in the presence of Jean Baptiste Sancer, undersigned with the groom and of Jean Baptiste Nantel and of Gilbert Therien, whom the groom has declared unable to sign.

The 1861 census of Canada shows 29 year old Odile, married and living in Brome, Quebec.[2]

The 1871 Canada census shows her in Waterloo, Quebec.[3]

The 1895 Minnesota state census.[4]

The 1900 US census shows 68 year old Odile living with her son Leon near Little Falls Minnesota.[5]

The 1910 US census finds Odile and her husband living out their final years in Duluth, Minnesota.[6]

She passed away in 1911.[7]
