Iconic Canadian singer who is internationally known for pop, country, and adult contemporary music and whose albums have sold over 55 million copies worldwide
Morna Anne Murray was born in 1945. Her parents are James Murray and Marion Burke. [1] She graduated from the University of New Brunswick. She is a singer known professionally as Anne Murray
Her recording of "Snowbird", became a No. 1 hit in Canada and No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970 in the United States. She recorded eight No. 1 Adult Contemporary hits. "Snowbird" was the first Gold record ever given to a Canadian artist in the United States. She also is the first woman and the first Canadian to win "Album of the Year" at the 1984 Country Music Association Awards. Billboard ranked her 10th on their list of the 50 Biggest Adult Contemporary Artists Ever in 2011. [2]
