Donald was born about 1823. On Donald Murdock's death certificate (1884) his father in law, Samuel Rankin, states that Donald's parents were Niel Murdoch and Barbara Dawson. Not Niel's wife at the time Janet Blair.

He passed away in 1884 at the sugar refinery where he worked . Given cause of death a heart attack .
