Biography

George Monrow appeared on a list of jurors for the Court of Common Pleas of Bristol County on 9 October 1705.

The will of George Munro of Bristol, cordwinder, is dated 25 August 1744; it was proved 8 October 1744. It names:

  • eldest son Benjamin Munro
  • sons Simeon Munro and Thomas Munro
  • daughters Hannah James and Sarah Eddy
  • granddaughters Pheby Eddy, Mary Eddy, and Martha Eddy
  • granddaughter Mary Munro, daughter of Simeon
  • grandson Thomas Munro, son of Benjamin
  • granddaughter Mary Munro, daughter of Thomas

Son Simeon was executor and residual heir.

To all People to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting. Know ye, That I Ebenezer Glading of Bristol in the County of Bristol in Newengland & Experience my wife For and in Consideration of the Sum of Forty six pounds in Bills of Credit to us in hand before the Ensealing hereof, well and truly paid by George Munroe of Bristol in the County of Bristol aforesd Cordwainer the Receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge and our selves therewith fully satisfied and contended, and thereof, and of every Part an Parcel thereof, do exhonerate, acquit and discharge him said George Munroe his Heirs, Executors and Administrators, for every by these Presents : Have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and by these Presents do freely, fully and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, aliene, convey and confirm, unto him the said George Munroe his Heirs and Assigns for ever, All that Messuage in Bristol aforesaid Containing one Dwelling House & one Quarter of an Acre of Land and is bounded westerly by high street Northerly by a highway Easterly and southerly by Land of the said George Munroe It being the same I said Ebenezer Glading bought of John Munroe Junr of Bristol aforesaid Together with all the profits benefits and Improvements thereof and all the Estate Right Title & Interest of the said Ebenezer and Experience Glading of in or to the same or any part thereof To Have and To Hold the said granted and bargained Premises, with all the Appurtenances, Priviledges and Commodities to the same belonging, or in any wise appertaining to him the said George Munroe his Heirs and Assigns for ever, to his and their only proper Use, Benefit and Behoof for ever. And I the said Ebenezer Glading for me & my Heirs, Executors and Administrators, do covenant, promise and grant to and with the said George Munroe his Heirs and Assigns, that at and before the Ensealing hereof, I am the true, sole and lawful Owner of the above bargained Premisses, and am lawfully seized and possessed of the same, in my own proper Right, as a good, perfect, and absolute Estate of Inheritance in Fee Simple : And have in my self good Right, full Power, and lawful Authority, to grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm said bargained Premisses, in manner as abovesaid. And that the said George Munroe his Heirs and Assigns, shall and may from Time to Time, and at all Times for ever hereafter, by Force and Virtue of these Presents, lawfully, peaceably and quietly, have, hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy the said demised and bargained Premisses, with the Appurtenances, free and clear, and freely and clearly acquitted, exonerated and discharged from all and all manner of former or other Gifts, Grants, Bargains, Sales, Leases, Mortgages, Wills, Entails, Joyntures, Dowries, Judgments, Executions, or Incumbrances, of what Name or Nature soever, that might in any Measure or Degree obstruct or make void this present Deed.

Furthermore, I the said Ebenezer Glading for my self my Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, do covenant and engage the above demised Premisses to him the said George Munroe his Heirs and Assigns, against the lawful Claims or Demands of any Person or Persons whatsoever, for ever to warrant, secure and defend by these Presents. In witness whereof we the said Ebenezer Glading and Experience my wife have hereunto set our hands & seals the Eleventh Day of September anno Domini 1732
