Biography

John and Bonnie Munn had no biological children of their own, but in Jan 1954 they adopted five-month-old Debra Dee Munn, who had been born 15 Aug 1953 in Amarillo, Potter, Texas.

John D. Munn, 89, brother of Frances (Fran) Cyrus and cousin to Katherine (Kathy) Lindberg and Dr. Stanton Seewald of Farmington, passed away in Amarillo, Texas on Feb. 3.

John was a native of Goodnight, Texas, moving to Amarillo as a young boy. A veteran of World War II in Europe, he enjoyed golf as a sport, being selected to the Panhandle Hall of Fame in 1973 and acknowledged by the Amarillo Globe News as a sports legend of the 20th Century.

John was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Amarillo and Crude Oil Manager for Diamond Shamrock Oil Co. at the time of his retirement. His wife, Bonnie Munn of the home and daughter, Debra, residing in Great Britain also survive him. John will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to a favorite charity
