Biography

Joseph William was the eldest child and only son of John and Mary (Dodd) Moyer, born 6-Jul-1852 in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The family moved from Wisconsin to Taylor, Iowa sometime before 1854, residing in the household of Joseph Dodd, Mary's father until at least 1856. By 1860, John and Mary Moyer had moved their family to a nearby farm. John passed in 1863, Joseph was ten years old.

Sometime before 1875, Mary and her children returned to Wisconsin. Joseph married Annetta Smith in 1876 in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. They resided in Darlington for approximately five years, before moving to Monona, Clayton County, Iowa in 1881.

Joseph was a farmer and held various township offices. Joseph and Mary had nine children, six girls and three boys. He passed in 1926 in Monona.
