Biography
William was born in 1927 at Sturgis Hospital, Sturgis, Michigan. He and his brother Robert were the first twins born in the hospital. His mother told the Dr. that they should be named Billy and Bobby. The Doctor said they should have better names than that. So you can see the results.
Bill graduated from Western Michigan College, as it was then called, in 1950. He wanted to be a high school teacher, but his first job was teaching fifth grade in Berrien Springs, Michigan, and he said it was one of his favorite jobs. He went on to the high school after one year where he taught and coached the football team.
He married Margery Ellen Waterman in 1949 in Elkhart, Indiana.[1]
Bill passed away in 2004.[2]
