Biography

There is no doubt in my mind, looking at the strong DNA evidence outlined below, that my 5th GGF was one of the sons of George Frederick Moser and Marie Barbara Lieser. However, there seems to be no birth record for my 4th GGM Barbara Moser Ingold. The only leads I have are two:

Jacob Moser?

The Brick Church, Guilford Cty, NC record of Peter and Barbara's daughter Phillipena  : 246 Born September 28, 1806 Peter Ingold and wife Barbara, one daughter baptized February 8, 1807 and named Filbina (sic). Sponsors were Jacob Moser and Catharina Shoffner. ^[1]

There is another mention of a Jacob Moser in the Brick Church records: a record of the confirmation of a Phillip Jacob Moser on April 11, 1773 (the first group of confirmations in that church). Were Jacob Moser and Phillip Jacob Moser the same person?

Nicholas Moser?

One of Nicholas' sons was named Joel Moser. Barbara and her husband Peter Ingold were to name one of their sons after Joel. Could Joel Moser have been Barbara's beloved brother?

My father and I have 40 Ancestry DNA shared matches to descendants of George Frederick Moser and Marie Barbara Lieser, who I claim as the grandparents of my 4th GGM Barbara Moser Ingold. I will focus on shared matches between my father and me and descendants from different children of George and Marie who also share the same match.

• 1. Michael Moser: My father and I share matches with 5 descendants of Michael. Among them are KS (a 6th cousin at 16 cm | 1 segment), JB (a 6th cousin at 15 cm | 1 segment), KB (a 6th cousin at 24 cm | 2 segments) and EE (a 6th cousin at 16 cm | cm). These cousins all match each other as well.
• 2. Nicholas Moser: My father and I share 9 matches with descendants of Nicholas. Among them are GR (a sixth cousin at 16 cm | 1 segment), LS (a 5th cousin 1x removed at 14 cm | 1 segment), and WB (a sixth cousin at 14 cm | 1 segment). Significantly, GR and LS also matches KB, the descendant of Nicholas’ brother Michael Moser.
• 3. Mary Magdelena Moser Butcher: My father and I share 9 matches with descendants of Mary. Among them is SR, a sixth cousin at 23 cm | 2 segments. Significantly, SR is a match with KS, JB, KB and EE (the descendants of Mary’s brother Michael mentioned above) as well as LS, GR and WB (the descendants of Mary’s brother Nicholas mentioned above.) Among other shared matches between my father and me, SR is also a shared match with:
  • a. EB (6th cousin at 8 cm | 1 segment) MC (5th cousin 1x removed at 7 cm | 1 segment), and GH (6th cousin at 8cm | 1 segment), all descendants of Mary Ann Moser Keck, another of the children of George and Maria Moser.
  • b. BS (6th cousin at 12 cm | 1 segment), a descendant of Frederick Moser, another one of the siblings.
