Biography
The 1860 US Census places 15 year-old Sarah in the home of William B. Morse in Hayfield Township, Crawford, Pennsylvania.[1]
Sarah and her husband Sylvester lived in Beaver Center, Pennsylvania and attended the Methodist church which was one of only two churches in town in those days. Sarah made carpets out of long strips sewed together to fit the room. They used a weaving machine. She was famous for her making of many cookies and pies. Since there was a cheese factory near Beaver Center, the McMillens always had a big head of cheese.
