Biography

Isham Moreland is a part of US Black heritage.

Isham was born enslaved about 1786. He was bequeathed to Colson Moreland in John Moreland's 1826 will and then later bequeathed to Colson's sons Colson Jr. and William in 1862.

Research Notes

Colson Moreland bequeathed Isham to his sons Colson Jr. and William in his will and instructed them to "take care of him during his life", implying that Isham was an old man. There was one old man in Colson's 1860 slave census record who had been born about 1786.
