Biography

John Hardin Moore was born on August 1, 1893 in Erath County, Texas.[1] He was the son of John Hardin Moore (1853-1935) and Sarah Hutchison Hatchett (1852-1933). At age 6, he was in his parent's home in Arapahoe, Custer County, Oklahoma, along with 5 of his siblings.[2]

He Married Maudie Myrtle Proctor (1895-1990) on July 4, 1915 in Chaves County, New Mexico. They had at least 5 children.

  3. Charles Herschel Moore (1922-1990)[4]
  4. Owalissa Myrtle Moore (1926-)[4]
  5. George Wayne Moore (1934-)[4]

They made their home in Caprock, Lea County, New Mexico, where in 1920, John was a Stock Farmer, and Maude was taking care of the home and children, Byrel-2 and John H-0.[3] By 1930, Byrel was age 12, John H-10, and Charles-7, and Owassa-4, had been born.[5] At this time John was farming.

They were still in Caprock in 1940, where he was ranching.[4]

He died on May 28, 1956, at tlhe age of 62, in Lea County, New Mexico, and was buried in the Tatum Cemetery in Tatum, Lea County, New Mexico.[1]
