Biography
William is recognized by NSDAR for signing the Oath of Allegiance and paying for services rendered during the Revolutionary War. [1]
He married Hannah Patterson about 1753.

William's estate passed probate in November 1796 in Guilford, North Carolina, United States.[4]
Research Note
He is not Maj William Montgomery b 1723 who married Margaret Briarleigh and died about 1785 in Wythe County, Virginia.
Marriage date is an estimate based on naming Frances as his eldest daughter and William as his eldest son in the will and dates for Elizabeth of 1756 and William of 1758. This presumes Frances was born around 1764, so they would have married before then.
