Thomas Shelton was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Montgomery. He married Nancy B. Gunn abt 1845 in Missouri; they had 11 children: Nancy Jane, William (youth death), Thomas (youth death), James Marinson, Mary E., Martha Catherine, George (youth death), Robert C., Jesse L., Jeffery and Sterling Price.

On Sep 1, 1858 he was given a land patent for 40 acres of land in the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 Sec 14, T31N R24W (about 1 miles ENE of Walnut Grove, Greene County, Missouri. The McDonald Cemetery is located on adjacent land granted to Thomas S. Montgomery in 1855 in Sec 13, T31N, R24W. While six fieldstones markers were found in the cemetery no identifying names or data was found.

Thomas was born in 1823. He was the son of Thomas Montgomery and Elizabeth Walter. He passed away in 1870.
