Biography

Thomas was born in Odiham Hampshire in 1819. He is the son of John Bird Monk and Marianne Susannah Timbrell (maiden name unsourced). Thomas was baptised in Odiham on 23 April 1819.

Thomas worked all of his life as a butcher. In the 1861 Census, he declared his occupation to be butcher/baker/miller.

On 25 September 1848 at St Pancras Old Church London, Thomas married Elizabeth Ann Hoar. We find no evidence that children came from the marriage. For the remainder of his life, Elizabeth's youngest unmarried sister Henrietta would reside with Thomas and Elizabeth in Odiham.

Thomas passed away in his home town on 6 August 1884 at about age 65. Wife Elizabeth was the sole beneficiary of his estate and she survived until 1902.
