Almon Miner was the son of Elisha Miner and Sybil Delaney. He is mentioned in the 1860 will of his father Elisha Miner: "I will and allow my son Allmon Miner the sum of four hundred dollars" (see weblink to that will in Elisha's profile).

Research note: The Miner-Avery online genealogy[1] lists this person as the first child of Elisha MinerMiner-2291 and Sybil D. DelaneyDelaney-2362. Effort should be made to discern his true maternal provenance.

He married Eunice A. Allyn on May 27, 1848 in Johnson Twp., Trumbull Co., Ohio, to this union 4 children were born, Mary Elmira Miner, Ephigene "Eve" Effie J. Miner, Charles A. Miner,Chester Warren Miner. Almon, had forsaken Eunice and her four babies, going off with one Harriett Taft, who was one of his school day sweet hearts, to marry.

The Miner-Avery genealogy is probably wrong about him being born in New York City. In the 1850, 1870, and 1880 Censuses, Almon said he was born in Ohio. Therefore, he most likely was born in Trumbull County, Ohio.
