Hi, Best wishes to all for 2020, I am researching the GG Grand Parents, Antonio Rodrigues (born about 1882) Funchal & his wife Adelaide De Gouveia ( born about 1830) left the Island of Madeira with a Mr Peacock, bound for NZ. I would like to know more about Antonio & his wife pre NZ. Who were their Madeira Island relatives ? Also another GG Grand parent. Thomas Walter Parsons, (born about 1836 Salford Warwickshire ?) Grenadier Guards, veteran of the Crimean war, we believe he was pensioned out. We have been unable to verify his name in any lists ? A real man of mystery ! Another GG Grand parent John Fenwick (born 1868 New Castle UK) at some stage he adopted his late mothers surname Pattison. As a young man he worked in the Assam Tea plantations, had 2 daughters to an unknown Indian woman, the girls were sent to the colonies as teenages.

I'm working on Fernandes Jardims in Canhas, Ponta do Sol and Santo Antonio, Funchal. Were your grandparents married in the parish or the county of Funchal? HERE are my Madeiran lines. Let me know if you ever have questions or need help. Best of luck on your research!
